Who has won the most La Liga Titles?
A total of 62 sides have competed in La Liga since its debut in 1928, but only nine of those sides have managed to win the title, with only six of those sides grabbing top spot on more than one occasion.
It was Barcelona who claimed the very first La Liga crown, and the Catalan side have since performed consistently well throughout the history of the league. A dominant period of ten title triumphs between 2004/05 and 2018/19 took Barcelona to an impressive total of 26 La Liga titles. That’s still only good enough for second place in the historical standings though.
Having registered at least five La Liga titles in every decade between the 1950’s and 1980’s, it is Barcelona’s perennial rivals, and thirteen times European Champion’s, Real Madrid who top the all-time list with 33 La Liga titles. Most La Liga Titles between 1928 and 2019:
- Real Madrid: 33 titles
- FC Barcelona: 26 titles
- Atlético Madrid: 10 titles
- Athletic Bilbao: 8 titles
- Valencia: 6 titles
What kind of betting odds can I find for La Liga?
As with the majority of the top leagues in the world, a more difficult question may be what kind of betting odds can’t I find in La Liga? Be it the match result, total goals, number of corners or otherwise which takes your interest, the chances are that there will be odds available to meet your needs.
In addition, the betting action doesn’t end once the game kicks off, with a number of markets simply turning “in-play” the moment the referee blows the whistle to signal the start of the game. More interested in the long-term markets, such as who will win the title, or finish as La Liga’s top scorer? Then turn to the wealth of Ante-Post markets available on Spain’s top-flight action.
Who are the Top 5 La Liga All-time Scorers?
The Spanish topflight has been lit up by many truly outstanding players over the years, particularly in the forward positions, with the likes of La Liga legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo being amongst the very best players to have ever played the game. Both feature on our list of La Liga’s five all-time top scorers :
- 1. Lionel Messi (438 goals): FC Barcelona.
- 2. Cristiano Ronaldo (311 goals): Real Madrid.
- 3. Telmo Zarra (251 goals): Athletic Bilbao.
- 4. Hugo Sánchez (234 goals): Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano.
- 5. Raúl (228 goals) : Real Madrid.
Of the players on the above list, only Lionel Messi is still currently active in La Liga, and so looks set to extend his lead still further in the coming years. It is Messi who also boasts the single season record having scored a remarkable 50 goals in 37 appearances during the 2011/12 campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo also deserves special mention. He may be behind Messi in terms of numbers but, as of 2020, Ronaldo is the only player to average over a goal a game over his entire La Liga career. A phenomenal achievement!
How to Bet on La Liga Spain?
